Programme: 67CEOs Local Community SMME Development Programme 2019
Theme: Advancing Inclusive Ecosystems
Title: Media Release

Limpopo – Local economic development (LED) should be every relevant stakeholder’s business. 67CEOs local community SMME development programme is established to advance inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem, promote access to broader markets and improve quality of life of local people. We believe this is essential to lessening any of the challenges associated with sustainable economic development and social upliftment in the Lephalale region.

South Africa’s “triple challenges” of high level of poverty, inequality and unemployment require inclusive entrepreneurship ecosystem development to fast-track the establishment and rapid scale of SMMEs who can contribute to regional economic growth and create much-needed jobs.

The 67CEOs Foundation will host the second edition of its Local Community SMME Development Programme in Limpopo this month to educate local start-up entrepreneurs and stimulate growth amongst local SMMEs.

The theme of the two-day event – which is sponsored by South Africa’s largest black-empowered diversified resources company Exxaro (through its Enterprise and Supplier Development programme) – is Advancing Inclusive Ecosystems and comprises CEOs and seasoned entrepreneurs mentoring newly-established industrialists and SMMEs.

“Exxaro believes that, unless we can power better lives for people, then we have not fulfilled our purpose. Exxaro will lead economic transformation by investing in black youth-owned and woman-owned small businesses that will create jobs in host communities and beyond.

“We operate in an environment of vast inequality, poverty and unemployment, and we are mindful of the fact that we can only bring about change if we all work together. That is why we are delighted to partner with 67CEOs Foundation to help nurture small, micro and medium sized businesses,” says Mxolisi Mgojo, CEO of Exxaro.

Some of the key activities planned for the Local Community SMME Development Programme 2019 include: keynote, masterclasses, pitching sessions, speed mentoring and product demonstrations. There will be masterclass sessions on SMME financial management and secondly, Personal and business development etc. SMMEs will also have access to a platform through which to pitch their business ideas and will stand a chance to win business growth funding.

Some of the notable event speakers are:

  • Mzila Mthenjane, Executive Head: Stakeholder Affairs at Exxaro Resources
